There are tons of places to get food in Málaga. Aside from typical local food you can also find Italian or Asian places for example. However in this post I am going to focus on places that serve typical local food. There is no way to possibly list all the food places of Málaga, so I am just going to list some of the restaurants the city has to offer.
This is one of Málagas most famous places (so well known in fact, that it has its own Wikipedia article, although only in Spanish). It’s well in the heart of the city, with a terrace from which you can see the Alcazaba and the Roman theater. The restaurants, which was opened in 1971, is in a old 18th century building and serves traditional Spanish dishes. It is famous for its great atmosphere.
Aside from serving food, El Pimpi also hosts many cultural events. There is also a wall with pictures of all the celebrities that have visited this place.
It is open daily from 10:00 to 02:00.
El Mesón de Cervantes is another place famous for its typical Spanish dishes and tapas. Founded by an Argentinian immigrant, who came to Málaga in 2008, it has already earned itself a reputation for being one of the must-visit restaurants in Málaga.
It is open from 19:00 to 00:00, on Fridays and Saturdays it closes on 00:30. On Tuesdays it is closed.
While this a very popular place for tapas, it is also a very small one, so be sure to make reservations if you intend to go there.
It was founded by the same person who also owns El Mesón de Cervantes. It’s also right around the corner from El Mesón de Cervantes, so in case you didn’t make a reservation and find the place full, you can always go and check there.
It is closed on Mondays. The rest of the week it is open from 13:00 to 15:30 and from 19:30 to 23:30.
The Vino Mío was opened in 2003 by a Dutch woman and not only serves traditional Spanish food, but also international dishes from all over the world. The special thing about this restaurant are the flamenco performances in the evening. Be sure to reserve a table to not miss it!
It is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 13:00 to 00:00.
Entre Varales is a place where locals go to. It is not an expensive, high-quality restaurant, but a place where you can go eat with your friends and get a lot of food for a good price.
It is open daily from 12:00 to 16:30 and then again from 20:00 to 00:00.
This is another local place with a nice atmosphere. They offer traditional food from Málaga for a good price. The whole ambience is Holy Week themed, so even if you can’t make it to Málaga during that time, you can still get the feeling there for the rest of the year.
It is open daily from 12:00 to 00:00.
